LGBTQIA+ Everybody’s Story is Important
At Kitchener Public Library we strive to create a space where everyone is welcome and where folks of all sexual and gender identities can live their authentic lives. While Pride is usually celebrated in June, we think awareness can (and should) be shared at any time of the year.
Since 2004, May 17th has been recognized as the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. It is a day to bring awareness to laws and policies that discriminate against people who identify as anything other than heterosexual. In a crisis like a pandemic, it is especially important to realize some folks may face barriers to treatment or care.
We invite you to explore the lives of LGBTQIA+ individuals through these curated digital collections here on the Digital Living page. Read some Journeys Of Courage on Download Library, peruse a rainbow of films on Hoopla, or explore a queer magazine in PressReader.
Join us this May while we visit all things LBGTQIA+ and celebrate love, pride and diversity with KPL's digital collections!
Tune into our free playlist, “Somewhere over the dance floor: LGBTQIA Anthems” on Freegal. Curated by Digital Living staff, this will have you kicking out the queer jams all year long. Enjoy unlimited streaming with your library card.
